Fact Track:
You've no doubt heard of charging stations being built around the country. This charging system is the one I selected to provide a charging station in my garage. It is a level 2 stations which mans it us a 220v AC source and outputs to a J1772 plug in my car.

It all starts with the charging system. The 220V AC plug is a circuit I needed to add to my garage. The charging system connects to my care with the J1772 plug, the common "non Tesla" plug. Functionality is controlled through an iPhone ap..
It should be noted that charging can be accomplish by a wide variety of methods including a J1772 connection from a standard household 120V AC plug. This is Level 1 and very slow. But this is the least expensive and most flexible since it can plug into a neighbor's common outlet.
Selecting a "Chaging System" like this one provides fast charging and features such as scheduled charging to take advantage lower electic rates.
I was able to put the recieving end of the J1772 connection into the original fuel opening. This preserves the feeling of loading juice where the fuel, gas or volt, belongs.
Note that there are adapters available for the J1772 plug in my car so that Tesla charges and connectors can be used.
